Module 02 — Now

One Life

You have one shot at this. Not YOLO recklessness — intentional urgency. The good life is built daily, not someday.

The uncomfortable truth

Most people live like they have unlimited time. They defer the good stuff — the trip, the project, the conversation, the rest — to “when things calm down.” Things don't calm down. You just run out of time. The tension you feel is your life telling you it wants to be lived, not managed.

Perspective

If you're 30, you have roughly 25,000 days left. If you're 25, about 29,000. That sounds like a lot until you realize how many of yours are already identical to yesterday.

How to actually live it

  1. 01

    The deathbed test

Before making any big decision, ask: at 85, lying in bed, would I regret NOT doing this? Most of what we're scared to do passes this test. Most of what we're busy with fails it.

  2. 02

Build your fun list (not a bucket list)

A bucket list is things you'll 'do before you die.' A fun list is things you genuinely enjoy doing now. Write 20. Schedule one this week. Not someday — this week.

  3. 03

    The 3-joy rule

Every day, do at least 3 things that bring you genuine joy — no matter how small. Morning chai without your phone. A 20-minute walk. Calling a friend. Joy is a daily practice, not a weekend event.

  4. 04

Protect your yes by using your no

Every yes is a no to something else. Start saying no to low-energy obligations: events you dread, people who drain you, work that bores you. You're not being selfish — you're being intentional.

  5. 05

    Social media detox

You can't live your life and watch everyone else's simultaneously. Set app limits: 30 min/day max. Delete Instagram off your phone for 30 days and see what comes back — creativity, presence, peace.

  6. 06

    Stop deferring joy

The promotion will come. The trip can happen this year, not 'someday.' The project you've been putting off — start it this weekend. Joy deferred is joy denied.

What joy looks like daily

Don't wait for the big moments. The life you want is made up of ordinary days. Make ordinary days good.

Morning

No phone for 30 min. Chai, walk, or journal. Start the day on your terms.

Work

One focused hour of real work beats eight hours of fake-busy. Do less, better.

Evening

Protect evenings like money. No work emails after 7pm. That's your life, not overflow hours.

Weekend

One adventure, however small. New street, new food, old friend. Weekends are for living, not just recovering.

Things to quit (that are stealing your life)

  • ✕Checking your phone within 30 minutes of waking up
  • ✕Agreeing to things out of guilt instead of genuine interest
  • ✕Saving experiences for 'when I have more money/time/energy'
  • ✕Comparing your chapter 3 to someone else's chapter 20
  • ✕Working during weekends without actually choosing to
  • ✕Spending 3+ hours a day on passive social media consumption

Key takeaway

The best time to start living the life you want was 10 years ago. The second best time is today. Not Monday. Today.
